For this week’s Flavors, Megan Graddy went to Art’s BBQ and Burgers in Fort Smith where they are serving up turkey, ham, and more this holiday season.

Wade York is the owner and operator of Art’s BBQ and Burgers.

With an amazing core menu, they also have a special twist for the holidays.

“We’ve got 20-22 lb whole turkeys, we also have a 14 lb whole turkey that we can either smoke or fry,” said Wade. “We have 7-10 lb average spiral sliced ham, 7 lb pit hams, we have just boneless turkey breast that we smoke if you don’t want the whole turkey, we have prime rib that we can do in a half or a whole depending upon how big your family is, and we have our house cured and smoked bacon and we sell it by the pound.”

Not only do they cook up a mean holiday menu, but they will cater your holiday celebration or office party.

“During the holidays we do turkey and dressing, we do smoked prime rib dinners, we do catfish dinners, the more notice the better,” said Wade.

At Art’s BBQ and Burgers, they will turn your favorite meal of the holidays into an easy experience.

“You can bring us your turkey or ham and we will smoke it or fry it, or you can purchase one from us, whatever fits your needs we can handle,” said Wade.

You can pick up your order until the day before Thanksgiving until 4 p.m., and they will be open on Christmas Eve until 4 p.m. as well.

“Basically we just want to feed your family, whether its smoked turkey, fried turkey, ham, prime rib, bacon for Christmas morning, we can do all that, but if you need something we are going to take care of you and your family,” said Wade.

Flavors: Steffey’s Pizza

[ooyala player_id=”e32b1952e526440e8cfb2c72937dad7e” auto=”true” width=”1920″ height=”1080″ pcode=”c3cHE6YMneRET89rDvIWFLO0U5lj” code=”J1MXhpZzE6gP00qi0IQgxtcQh3CjC-WE”]

Hey guys, Megan Graddy here with this week’s Flavors in Lavaca at Steffey’s Pizza.

That crispy crunch you hear is the crust of a one of a kind, homemade, brick oven pizza that you can only get at Steffey’s Pizza.

Everything made at Steffey’s is made fresh daily… from their secret family recipe dough.

“We have made about 754 pounds of dough this week already,” said LeaAnn Steffey-Ellison.

Grated smoked provolone cheese, savory pizza sauce with a kick.

“We cook out sauce every day for five hours,” said Steffey-Ellison.

And all of the toppings are chopped, sliced, and diced for the perfect pizza toppings.

Their history runs deeper than their stuffed Uncle Romans pizza pie too…

“My parents originally started this in 1963 in Pennsylvania and we moved here in 1980 and opened in 1981 and we have been here ever since, and now it’s just a staple of Lavaca,” said Steffey-Ellison.

Even their decorations have a purpose, from their re-purposed pie plates…

“ I use the old pie plates for picture frames,” Steffey-Ellison.

Their unique light fixtures are great.

To their game room full of pictures featuring, “Where Has Your Steffey’s Shirt Been?

From prep, to oven, to table, the guest at Steffey’s know good pizza when they see it!

And how could we forget about their cheesy chicken spaghetti… the phone wouldn’t let us… it rang off the hook to make sure they got their serving of it!

After all of our hard work in the kitchen, LeaAnn thought we deserved a piece of the pie.

And what better way to finish off a meal at Steffey’s than a s’mores pizza.

For this week’s Flavors, doing it Steffey’s Style, I’m Megan Graddy.

Flavors – Juan’s Mexican Restaurant

[ooyala player_id=”e32b1952e526440e8cfb2c72937dad7e” auto=”true” width=”1920″ height=”1080″ pcode=”c3cHE6YMneRET89rDvIWFLO0U5lj” code=”R5cTUxZzE6s9kJdOtrU6Map6ZXsg3Huc”]

Hey guys, Megan Graddy here for this week’s Flavors. Today we are at Juan’s in Fort smith, and they’re known for their Tex-Mex flavor, and we couldn’t wait to check them out.

The owner, Will Anderson, shared with us what makes Juan’s a place to keep coming back to. “We’re not authentic Mexican food, we’re Tex-Mex, but we are authentic to Fort Smith. We strive to offer an excellent experience, and I think that when you come to Juan’s we try really hard to make that happen.”

“The food that we make today is going to taste just like it did in 1985 or 1995 when you came here with your family for the first time. From an appetizers point of view we have some things which are kind of unique to the area. First and foremost is our cheese dip, we have what we call our Chili Con Queso, and it’s a yellow cheese dip. But it’s like nothing else like you’ve had in Fort Smith, or probably anywhere else.”

“We also offer some unique appetizers in the form of fried cauliflower, and we couple that with our cheese dip, it’s one of our most popular items.  From an entree point of view our most popular item is something called the Chile Relleno. It is kind of like a gigantic jalapeno popper, and it’s absolutely wonderful. Its probably kept us in business over the last 40 years.”

“We also have something called the Vera Cruz, at a lot of restaurants around town you will find something called the Steven Special, and it’s essentially a rice topped with chicken and cheese. We have a new dessert that we’re rolling out called a Bolsaipilla it’s something that we’ve invented. It’s our Sopaipilla injected with a homemade cream cheese filling drizzled in caramel, powdered sugar, and cinnamon.”

“To the people who have been coming here for the last 40 years, thank you from the bottom of my heart. We are incredibly blessed to have such a loyal customer base of people who love our food, love our story, and are passionate about keeping that going.  We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.”

Until next time I’m Megan Graddy with for this week’s Flavors.

Flavors: Bruce Terri Drive In’s Award Winning Catering

[ooyala player_id=”e32b1952e526440e8cfb2c72937dad7e” auto=”true” width=”1920″ height=”1080″ pcode=”c3cHE6YMneRET89rDvIWFLO0U5lj” code=”1pcTZrZTE6usoMdDrksAcX9VcF9TuES8″]

“My daddy built this restaurant and he named it after my brother and I, Bruce and I’m Terri so it became, Bruce Terri and that’s how it got started,” said Terri Peacock.  “We’ve been in business in this location for 48 years and we just keep growing.”

We are back at Bruce Terri and this time we are talking about catering and its growth has no bounds.

“We love doing that because you can go out and meet new people this way, we’ve gone up to Springfield, Missouri, Little Rock, Tulsa,” said Terri.

“From a burger, to catching, to BBQ, we’ve done some Christmas parties with a Fajita bar or Lasagna salad and breadsticks,” said Chuck Peacock. “Our catfish is normally done on site.”

“Everything we do is fresh, nothing is made from a can or out of a jar we make it all from scratch,” said Terri.

“We listen to what their needs are, and we will do whatever they want done,” said Chuck.

“We do family picnics, we do cooperate events, we do things for the hospitals here in town, we do birthdays, weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners,” said Terri.

“We try to take care of people and we are not your typical fast food place,” said Chuck.

“We can do the whole thing we don’t have to just do the meal, we do desserts and drinks also,” said Terri.

Speaking of desserts.

“The most popular desserts are our ice cream and strawberries or our ice cream and cobbler,” said Terri. “And it’s nice to be catered to so you don’t have to fix it.”

Their service and food speak for itself, but…

“We ended up winning the Best of the Best for catering, so we just want to thank our customers for doing that for us and we look forward to doing more catering for you,” said Terri.

“Both of our sons work within the business and we are a very family-oriented business,” said Chuck.

“We are a mom-and-pop restaurant our son is going to take over one day and we’re just excited about that because the legacy will live on,” said Terri.

“I’d be the third generation and it just means so much to me to get to carry this on and hopefully pass it down to my kids and one day see another fourth generation going,” said Kyrk Peacock.

“When you come in we know your name and we know your drink and it will hit the counters and be waiting for you,” said Chuck.

“We want you to come as a customer, but we want you to leave as a friend,” said Terri.

“Years ago, we needed something to raise money to help out with the daycare, so we started selling cheesecakes it took us about 11 months to create a flavor because we wanted our cheesecake to stand up and be beautiful it was a challenge, but we finally did it we knew we had something everybody would love,” said Carolyn Pennel, owner of Carolyn’s Cheesecake House.

Carolyn’s Cheesecake house has a wide variety so there is something for everyone, even two sugar free options daily! “Some of our top flavors are turtle, blueberry, strawberry, banana, banana split, cookies and crème, peanut butter, almond joy, we have 17 flavors available daily, six total flavors of sugar free cheesecake, and we make a whopping 40 flavors of cheesecake.”

Carolyn picked me out on of her most favorites, the banana split cheesecake. It’s topped with chocolate sauce, caramel, bananas, peanuts, whipped cream, and a cherry! It’s light, fluffy, and so deliciously sweet you need to make it a priority to come check this one of a kind dessert destination out.

They also offer a variety of other treats and gift options.

“We do flower candy bouquets, homemade candies, caramel, chocolates in both light and dark, and crème filled as well as dessert platters and trays,” said Pennel.
